For the latest up-to-date topographic data please go to the LINZ NZTopoOnline website. NZTopoOnline maps are created using ArcIMS.

Map Services for ArcGIS

You can use map services from ArcIMS servers directly within your ArcExplorer, ArcGIS or ArcPad. Using your desktop GIS application create a new Internet Connection to the server (e.g. www.geographynetwork.co.nz) and choose from the available map services.

This site is powered by ArcIMS from ESRI. The topographic data is stored in WGS84 (latitude & longitude) coordinates in an ArcSDE database. The LINZ Orthophotos are stored in a MrSID Image Catalog. All the maps are created and projected on-the-fly when requested.
